Apply for a FREE to you Tech Pack on this page or by calling 218-739-5286 Nov. 18-20. An application link will be added to this page on Wednesday, Nov. 18. Phone calls will be accepted between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Nov. 18-20 only. Tech Pack recipients will be chosen using a randomized lottery system. The enrollment period has closed. All applicants have been notified either by email (if you provided an email address in your application) or by phone (if you did not provide an email address in your application). Please check your email if you applied. Instructions on how to pick-up your tech pack will be sent out this week.
Tech Packs provide a free laptop and internet access to Otter Tail County residents who have experienced impacts due to COVID-19. The Tech Pack project is part of Otter Tail County's efforts to advance local broadband initiatives as a Blandin Broadband Community and by investing Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act funds to assist county residents who have experienced economic impacts due to COVID-19. The project is part of broader efforts to bridge the digital divide in Otter Tail County.
Tech Pack contents
Tech Packs will be awarded to Otter Tail County residents 18 years of age or older who:
have experienced job loss
have experienced reduced hours
saw a change or loss of household income
face future uncertainty in industry
have other barriers due to COVID-19
and do not have access to a working computer that is not shared (for example a children's computer for distance learning) and/or do not have access to Internet at their residence that is not through a phone plan. The Tech Pack Project seeks to help county residents who need a computer for job seeking or training, to help students with distance learning, and to help seniors and others access telehealth and other virtual services during the pandemic.
How to apply
COVID-19 impacted Otter Tail County residents can apply during the open enrollment period. Entries will be accepted online through an application form. The form link will be posted on this page during the enrollment period (Nov. 18-20). Residents can also apply by calling 218-739-5286 during the following dates only:
November 18-20 (phone calls accepted between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.)
One entry per resident will be accepted and only one Tech Pack will be awarded per residence.
Due to limited supply, not everyone who applies will receive a Tech Pack. Tech Pack recipients will be chosen using a randomized lottery system. If you are selected to receive a Tech Pack, you will be notified regarding pick up instructions:
If you entered the lottery by completing the online application form and provided an email address, you will be contacted through the email address you provided.
If you entered the lottery by phone or did not provide an email address on your online application, you will be contacted through the phone number you registered with.
If you apply and are not selected to receive a Tech Pack, a project member will reach out to you via phone shortly after the enrollment period to notify you.
If you are a recipient of a Tech Pack, the Tech Pack is yours to keep.
