The Viking Library System provides bookmobile service to rural residents in Douglas, Grant, Otter Tail, Pope, Stevens and Traverse counties who live in communities without a public library.

Service is also provided to senior care and assisted living facilities, child cares, and schools located in communities without a public library. 

Bookmobile 2023-2024 School Year Schedule

Please note these changes:
Effective beginning Thursday, October 19, the Bookmobile will no longer stop at St. Agnes School in Osakis, and the stop time change for Nelson has changed. The Bookmobile will stop in Nelson from 1:00 to 1:30 p.m.

Please note, the bookmobile will not run on the following holidays:

  • Labor Day (Monday, September 4)

  • Indigenous Peoples Day (Monday, October 9)

  • Veterans Day (Friday, November 10)

  • Thanksgiving Day (Thursday, November 23)

  • Christmas Day (Monday, December 25)

  • New Year's Eve Observed (Friday, December 29)

  • New Year's Day (Monday, January 1)

  • Martin Luther King Jr. Day (Monday, January 15)

  • Presidents' Day (Monday, February 19)

  • Memorial Day (Monday, May 27)

The new Bookmobile hit the road June 1, 2021 and was made possible with funding from:

  • Douglas, Grant, Otter Tail, Pope, Stevens and Traverse counties

  • The Northern Lights Library Network

  • The Frank W. Veden Trust
     

The bookmobile murals were created by local artist Scott Gunvaldson.

The bookmobile and member libraries also offer a wide variety of electronic resources including eBooks, downloadable audiobooks, streaming movies, TV and music, and a wide variety of educational databases and distance learning resources.
